Amazon shoppers can help support Bromley children’s charity with a simple click of a button

A children’s charity has partnered with an online retailer to raise free donations when shopping online in the run-up to Christmas.
Shoppers using AmazonSmile can now ask for 0.5 per cent of their purchases to go to the Freddie Farmer Foundation, a Bromley-based children’s charity which provides specialist physiotherapy programmes for disabled children aged three to 16.
A philanthropic branch of the huge online store allows people to get the same experience as they would on Amazon, but with the added benefit of selecting an organisation of their choice for the donation to be made at no cost to themselves.
The partnership will allow the Freddie Farmer Foundation to continue raising vital funds during the winter months.
Charity centre manager Karen Smith, 50, who was the one to initially draw attention to the financial opportunity, said: “Loads of people shop on Amazon, so we are hoping that it’s going to generate some sort of income for us.
“It’s been difficult with Covid, especially in that we rely on fundraisers to provide us with the means to support our families.”
All of the fundraising events planned for the Freddie Farmer Foundation have been cancelled this year.
The foundation is one of only a handful of independent UK therapy centres offering specialist equipment and therapeutic exercises for disabled children.
