Much-loved Porcupine pub in Mottingham to finally be demolished – making way for Lidl supermarket

The seven-year saga surrounding Mottingham’s Porcupine pub is set to finally be resolved next week – with controversial plans to demolish the old boozer likely to get the go-ahead. Council officers will recommend councillors approve Lidl’s scheme to knock-down the once-loved pub, in Mottingham Road, for a new supermarket, in a special meeting of the development control committee on Tuesday.

Labour opposition asks for rethink over plan to sell Chislehurst Library

A controversial decision to sell Chislehurst Library is to be looked at again after concerns were raised by the opposition Labour Group. Labour leader Angela Wilkins confirmed the party had ‘called-in’ the decision to sell the library, in Red Hill, to development firm Prime PLC, hours before the deadline for referral, citing concerns over transparency and the value of the sale. The move now means the issue will be discussed at an upcoming meeting of Bromley council.
