Charlton Athletic will have trio back for Posh – but Marcus Maddison misses out

Charlton Athletic will have Darren Pratley, Jason Pearce and Andrew Shinnie back in their squad for tomorrow’s trip to League One promotion rivals Peterborough.

But Marcus Maddison will miss out on a London Road return due to his ankle injury – with Akin Famewo, Ryan Inniss and Ben Watson also unavailable.

Pearce and Pratley have served their suspensions while Shinnie had been absent with a quad problem.

“Shinnie has had two training sessions with us now – he would’ve had another last week but we couldn’t train because the pitch was waterlogged,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer.

“But he has had two and will get another today. It will be good to have him back around.

“Akin is only just going outside now. We’re hoping he might be back for Portsmouth.”

Chuks Aneke has started the last two matches for the Addicks – with Bowyer previously being mindful of managing his minutes to try and avoid injury issues.

“I think it was good for him mentally to play 90 minutes and then 60-65 at the weekend,” said the Charlton manager. “We’ve got to analyse him today and see how he is.

“We have to do the right thing. If he is okay to play then he’ll play. We’ll speak to the medical department.”
