Charlton loanee set to make QPR return – as west London club poised to cut short spell in SE7

QPR are set to recall Paul Smyth from his loan at Charlton Athletic.

The 23-year-old was not in the Addicks’ matchday 18 for their 2-2 draw with Swindon Town on Saturday.

And the South London Press understands that Smyth is likely to return to his parent club at some stage this week.

Charlton boosted their attacking options by bringing in Jayden Stockley on loan from Preston North End on Friday. And when Akin Famewo is back fit it would leave them with six loanees – with only five allowed to be in a matchday squad.

Northern Ireland international Smyth has made 14 League One appearances for the Addicks, eight of those starts. He has scored once, in the 4-2 loss at Burton Albion.
