Dinner and a show from Clapham theatre production, Rice!
A Clapham theatre is giving a new meaning to dinner and a show – by delivering a box of ingredients to cook to accompany their new online performance.
Rice! tells the story of Connie Cheng – a Malaysian-born Chinese woman who migrates to the UK – and her life between the two cultures.
The production is performed live via zoom from the UK and Malaysia on February 20, 21, 27 and 28 and explores how to hold on to the past while looking forward to the future.
The story centres around the food that shapes her journey, while giving the audience a chance to taste it.
As well as the ingredients, participants will be given a printed recipe or the option of joining a cooking class before the show.
Rice! is co-produced by Omnibus Theatre in Clapham and Wayang Kitchen – a Malaysian based theatre company that combines food and storytelling.
