Man in 70s found dead in Wimbledon pond

A man has been found dead in a popular family park.

Emergency services rushed to Cannizaro Park, Wimbledon, at 9.19am on Bank Holiday Monday following reports of a body in a pond.

The victim, understood to be in his 70s, was recovered from the water.

Paramedics administered CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe they know the man’s identity and have informed next of kin.

Enquiries into the circumstances continue but at this stage the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
