Millwall new boy ready to be Mr Versatile

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

George Evans could be set for his Millwall debut tomorrow – and is perfectly happy to be an odd-job man for Gary Rowett’s side.

The 26-year-old, above, made the move from Derby County for an undisclosed fee on Monday.

Former Manchester City youngster Evans has played at centre-back and in a holding midfield role for the Rams.

Initially it looks likely that he will be deployed in the back three, allowing Rowett to shift Ryan Leonard back into his normal midfield role.

“I’d like to think I can fill in a number of positions,” said Evans. “It hopefully means more minutes on the pitch.

“I’m more than happy to play anywhere.

“The formation they want to play probably suits me best. Hopefully I can come here, play some good games and kick us up the table and where we deserve to be.”

Evans is eligible to feature in tomorrow’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday.
