No camping bed for Charlton’s Chris Gunter at this summer’s European Championships
BY MAX HALL
Charlton manager Nigel Adkins will presumably be relieved to know experienced full-back Chris Gunter will not be sleeping on a camping bed for the duration of the European Championships with Wales – as he did in France five years ago.
Speaking from the Wales camp in Baku this afternoon, Wales and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey confirmed rumours that Gunter – best man at his wedding – was forced into extreme measures in 2016 to ensure the two could room together.
“He drew the short straw there, it’s true,” said the former Arsenal midfielder. “But it was all worth it in the end. This time it’s a bit different, again because of Covid, because we’re all tucked away in our own rooms.”
