74-year-old man murdered in New Cross home named by police
Police have named the 74-year-old killed in Lewisham as a man is charged with his murder.
Christopher Martin has been identified as the elderly man found critically injured at an address in Wild Goose Drive in New Cross just before 5am on Friday, May 28.
A post-mortem examination held the following day gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, chest and abdomen.
Jack Forde, 23, of Wild Goose Drive, was charged with murder on May 30, and has since appeared at the Old Bailey on Thursday, June 3.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating, and it is believed the victim and suspect were known to each other.
Forde will next appear at the same court on Thursday, August 19.
