Eberechi Eze gives his verdict on Crystal Palace’s loss to Leicester City

BY KAI BENNETT

Eberechi Eze was pleased with Crystal Palace’s performance despite losing 2-1 at Leicester City last night.

The South Londoner played an incisive pass through to Wilfried Zaha, who fired the visitors ahead and moved his goal tally to 10 for the campaign.

Eze told Premier League Productions: “It’s a very difficult one to take. The boys worked hard throughout the whole game and we put in a very good performance so it’s a hard result to take.

“Whenever he [Zaha] gets a chance close to goal and with only the keeper to beat, I’ll always back him to score. I was grateful he got on the end of my pass and he put it away.”

Jairo Riedewald had a great chance to put Palace back in front in the second half but the Dutchman squared to Christian Benteke.

“He made the right decision,” said Eze. “I was a bit too far back but when he’s in those positions I trust him to make the right decisions. I’ll back him, as he makes the right one more often than not. No blame on him, not at all.”

The Eagles hadn’t played in 16 days but Eze believes that gave them an advantage.

“We always put in 100 per cent every game – we don’t see games as nothing to play for. We want to finish as high up as we can and we want to work hard. As you can see today we put in a good performance against a very good team. It’s not hard to lift ourselves for any game, we’re ready all the time.

“We were fresh, we were ready. We’ve been training and preparing for this game for a long time after the Chelsea game. We wanted to put in a good performance, work hard and give the best we had.

“[The targets for the rest of the season are] to work our hardest to finish as high up the table as we can, and to keep putting in performances like that as we will get good results more often than not.”
