When Dave Went Up tells the story of how the club became sensations in non-league and won the hearts of a nation with their incredible cup run in the mid-1970s as well as how Dave Bassett turned the club’s fortunes around and paved the way for success.

It also covers Bobby Gould recruiting Don Howe as coach, details of the battle of St James’ Park, what really happened the night before the final and how the players felt as the side started to break up.

Gary Jordan is the author of two books and the co-author of AFC Wimbledon: On This Day. Previously he wrote about Wimbledon’s return to Plough Lane after a 30-year absence in Show Me the Way to Plough Lane. He is an AFC Wimbledon season-ticket holder and has been an avid Dons fan since the mid-1980s. He is also editor of the club’s matchday programme.
