Woolwich schoolboy stabbed to death in horrific attack

A schoolboy was stabbed to death in a horrific attack yesterday evening.

Police were called at around 6.30pm to reports of a stabbing in Eglinton Road, Woolwich.

Officers attended the scene and found a teenage boy with a stab injury.

Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, he died a short time later.

The victims next of kin have been informed, the Met said.

A spokeswoman for the London mayor, Sadiq Khan, said: “The mayor’s thoughts are with the family and friends of the teenage boy who has been killed in Woolwich, as well as the wider community.

“This heartbreaking violence has no place in our streets. The mayor is in close contact with police leaders and there will be increased patrols in the local area.”

A crime scene remains in place. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
