A murder investigation has been launched after two people were found dead at an address in Lewisham.

Police attended an address in New Butt Lane, Deptford SE8 on Monday, December 4,  at 02:45hrs following a report raising concerns for the welfare of the occupant.

Officers forced entry and found the bodies of a man and a woman.

The man believed to be in his 60s, and the woman believed to be in her 40s were pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course. We await formal identification.

No arrests at this stage; enquiries continue. A crime scene remains in place at the address.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
