AFC Wimbledon Women stay top of the league after win over London Seaward

AFC Wimbledon Women stayed top of the Women’s National League Division One South East after a 4-2 win over London Seaward.

London Seaward took the lead after four minutes following a swift attack.

Hannah Billingham sent a fantastic ball into the box towards Sandra Soares Martins in the second half that was turned into the net by a London Seaward defender.

An own goal brought the game level, as it was AFC Wimbledon Women 1-1 London Seaward.

Soon after the equaliser, Hannah Billingham sent another cross into the box, that was poorly handled by the Seaward defence. The ball came to Ashleigh Goddard, who thumped it into the back of the net.

As the clock ticked around to the final 15 minutes, Ashleigh Goddard sent a lovely, chipped ball towards Ashlee Hincks, who controlled it beautifully. The number nine took the ball down and calmly slotted home past the Seaward goalkeeper to extend their lead.

The game entered the final 10 minutes, and Seaward pulled one back to make it 3-2.

Substitute Sandra Soares Martins put in an excellent performance coming off the bench and got the goal she deserved. Ashlee Hincks put in an excellent shift down the right-hand side and sent a perfect cross to Soares Martins, who made no mistake as she rolled the ball past the goalkeeper.
