Andros Townsend scored a Goal of the Month contender today – but the Crystal Palace man’s shooting prowess is no surprise to Roy Hodgson.
The attacker made it four goals for the campaign with a left-footed thunderbolt as the Eagles beat Burnley 2-0.
But Townsend finding that accuracy on a more regular basis has got to be the aim.
Hodgson said: “We’ve seen that shot – and that move – fail to succeed on quite a few occasions already. The ball has either gone wide, or over the crossbar or the goalkeeper has made a save.
“It’s no surprise when he cuts in now…I expect him to produce that level of shot. It’s just a question of whether he can keep it on target. I remember two or three occasions where Andros has shot from that similar situation and it has produced excellent saves from the goalkeeper.
“I don’t think Joe Hart could be blamed in any way. It was a really, really good strike.”
