Appeal to identify man wanted in connection with Croydon assault

Detectives are appealing to the public to help them identify a man following an assault.

Police were called to London Road, Croydon at 00:45hrs on Monday, 27 April after a man reported that he was injured in the back with a small bladed weapon outside Fresh and Tasty food takeaway shop.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect then left the scene along Mayday Road.

Detective Constable Chris Dimmer said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack that has left the victim in a state of shock and worry.

“If you’ve seen this man out and about or you know who he is, please contact us. Similarly if you are the man in the image, come forward and speak to us.”

Detectives investigating the incident are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist in identifying the man in the CCTV image to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 0278/27 April or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.

There have been no arrests; enquiries continue.
