Amid all the Arsenal transfer window media circus it was the usual story of make-do-and-mend for Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson and his injury-hit squad.
Yohan Cabaye is restored to the starting line-up after being benched, and unused – because of muscle fatigue – for the 1-0 win against Burnley last week.
As a result, Jairo Riedewald drops to the bench, with the rest of Hodgson’s starting 11 unchanged.
Joel Ward has recovered sufficiently from injury to take his place on the bench with Andros Townsend also deemed fit enough for a recall to the squad as Sullay Kaikai and Aaron Wan-Bissaka make way.
Arsenal: Cech, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin, Elneny, Wilshere, Xhaka, Iwobi, Ozil, Lacazette. Subs: Mertesacker, Ospina, Chambers, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, Nelson, Nketiah.
Crystal Palace: Hennessey, Fosu-Mensah, Kelly, Tomkins, Van Aanholt, Zaha, Milivojevic, Cabaye, McArthur, Benteke, Sako. Subs: Speroni, Ward, Townsend, Lee, Souare, Delaney, Riedewald.
