A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her 20s was attacked in Lewisham last Friday. Police were called following a report that a woman had been raped at around 7pm in Forster Memorial Park, near Bellingham. The Metropolitan Police said it is believed the victim and the attacker were known to each other.

A police officer has been shot and killed by a man at a police custody centre in Croydon. At around 2.15am this morning the officer was shot by a man who was being detained at Croydon Custody Centre, in Windmill Lane. Officers and paramedics treated him at the scene and he was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service but he died later in hospital.

Serial burglar described as a “one man crime wave” jailed for multiple offences that took place in Westminster

A man who committed a variety of crimes in the Westminster area over a number of months – including burglaries, homophobic abuse and threatening someone with a samurai sword – has been jailed. Philip Oyelade, 40, of no fixed address, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail for a slew of offences including assault, possession of offensive weapons, and drug and public order offences.
