Bern Leno: Fulham came close to claiming a draw at Tottenham

Bernd Leno reckoned that Fulham could have earned a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites lost 2-1 against Spurs – Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Harry Kane gave the hosts a two-goal lead before Aleksandar Mitrovic pulled one back late on.

Leno told FFC TV: “It’s tough to take, because at the end we had some chances. Of course, Tottenham played a good game and created many more chances than us, but I think at the end it was still possible.

“You could see we had one or two more chances. Lloris made some good saves. In the end it was a deserved defeat but, like I said, there were still chances to draw this game.

“You could see the team never gave up. We scored the goal from Mitro out of nothing and then all of a sudden their crowd is getting nervous, Tottenham made a couple of sloppy mistakes and we were back in the game.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t score another one. The first half was not our best. We made a lot of sloppy mistakes. The goal we conceded was very cheap.

“We couldn’t keep the ball too much and gave them easy chances. In the second half we played with much more courage on the ball.

“Of course they had some chances, but that’s normal away against a big team. We’ve only lost two games, away from home against big teams, so there’s no reason to be too disappointed.

“At home we are a very strong team, we want to keep that level, starting against Chelsea.”
