Blackheath hotel stays open to help key workers

A hotel has stayed open for scores of NHS staff, enabling them to do 650 shifts at hospitals.

The Clarendon Hotel, Blackheath has also provided hot meals for staff at the nearby Cygnet Hospital.

Staff at the hospital said that the food provided a much-needed boost, especially the home-baked lemon tarts and carrot cake.

General Manager Ken Milton says: “We’re really pleased that the Clarendon can make a difference to our all-important key workers.

“It’s good to know that we can offer practical help and support – there’s always been a strong community in Blackheath and we’re grateful that we can play our part in pulling together when we all need it most.”
