Lambeth fielded a record 28 riders in the 2018 London Youth Games held at Lake Farm Country Park in Hayes on Sunday.
The event attracting teams from boroughs all over the capital.
South London’s healthy BMX scene with clubs in Brixton, Greenwich, Merton and Peckham ensured the boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark all fielded teams.
The temperatures were baking hot and the lack of wind meant that everyone present had to make sure to stay rehydrated. However despite the heat, the young BMX riders were keen to compete across an array of age classes.
Most of Lambeth’s riders came from Brixton BMX Club, with a few from Peckham Challengers. Brixton also provided riders for the Bromley, Croydon and Lewisham teams.
Elijah Watson, competing in the wingz category, deserves a special mention for his seventh place in his A final, having never competed in a BMX event before.
Lambeth finished third, Southwark claimed second with Hillingdon – most local to the host track – bagging first.
