Bromley striker Michael Cheek finishes top scorer in the National League

Bromley striker Michael Cheek fought off competition to finish as top goalscorer for the 2020-21 National League campaign, with 21 goals for the season.

The 29-year-old scored 25 goals in all competitions including the two that were wiped off against Dover Athletic at the start of the season, due to them being expunged from the league.

The 2020-21 campaign was Cheek’s best goalscoring season of his career.

Cheek said: “It really means a lot to me. The National League has a lot of good goalscorers, so it was always going to be competitive. To come out on top is something I’m really proud of. It was touch and go however after the goals against Dover were chalked off.”

Cheek is excited by the prospect of the fans returning to Hayes Lane next season.

“The fans are such a big part of the club and we really felt that at the Notts County game,” he said. “To have them back next season will really boost us all.”
