Call the Midwife star gives talk on businesses employing special needs and disabled learners
A Call the Midwife star has called on businesses to employ special needs and disabled learners, with a personal talk given at a virtual event this week.
Daniel Laurie, who has Down’s Syndrome, gave the keynote speech at the event hosted by London South-East Colleges.
The event was part of a series encouraging businesses to see the benefits of a fully inclusive workforce.
Drawing from his own personal experience of working in the creative arts industry, Daniel Laurie said: “I love being an actor.
They say all you have to do is speak up and don’t bump into the furniture, but most of the hard work comes the day before filming. Preparation is vital!”
London South-East Colleges is one of eight providers nationally selected by the Education and Training Foundation as an ‘employer spoke’ of its Centres of Excellence in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
