Council opens new library and heritage centre to ‘tell the story of Southwark and its people’

Southwark Council officially launched a new library and heritage centre in Walworth “dedicated to telling the story of Southwark and its people”. In line with Covid-19 restrictions, the launch of Southwark Heritage Centre and Walworth Library was attended by a limited number of guests that included Southwark Pensioners, Walworth Society and Dawes Tenants and Residents Association, on Wednesday (19 May).

‘Ratana police puppies’ named after Croydon officer who was killed on duty

A litter of Metropolitan police puppies have been named after a Croydon officer who was killed on duty. The Met Commissioner Cressida Dick welcomed the seven new-born puppies who have been named the ‘Ratana Litter’ in memory of PS Matt Ratana who was killed on duty last year. Matt was fatally shot at Croydon Custody Centre in September 2020.
