Almost 3,500 people test positive for Covid-19 in London with 1,000 more being treated in hospital

Almost 3,500 people tested positive for Covid-19 in London on October 28, while more than 1,000 people were in hospital with the virus. Between October 17 and October 23 – the most recent complete week of data – a total of 26,465 new positive cases were identified in the capital, an increase of almost 4,000 from the previous week.

Medics at Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Trust who saved Boris Johnson left decimated by staff shortages

The NHS intensive care unit which helped save Boris Johnson’s life after he contracted coronavirus is dangerously understaffed, according to their leaders. Trade union Unite said a survey of its members at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in Waterloo found chronic understaffing in the unit had led to plunging morale and fears over the danger to patients.
