Catford Wanderers mixed second team start summer with a loss

Catford Wanderers Mixed second team began their summer season with a 4-2 defeat at David Lloyd Dartford.

The match hinged on the second round clash between the home sides Simon Phillips and Jennifer Crowe and Wanderers’ Sai Cheung and Toni Boardman.

After a nervous opening set, which they lost 6-3, they battled back to take the second 7-5.  A tie-break set clinched the victory for David  Lloyd.

Catford’s first pairing of Rob Dawbarn and Lilla Brown were comfortable winners (6-1 6-4) in the opening round but they too fell victims to Phillips and Crowe on the tie break.

Catford’s third pair of Peter Horton and Ruth Owens lost both their matches.
