Charlton Athletic boss Bowyer: We deserved win over Plymouth Argyle
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer felt his side were full value for their 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle.
Karlan Grant scored twice as the Addicks moved up to sixth in the League One table.
Bowyer said: “We deserved the win. From the first minute we have dominated the game – they hit us with a sucker blow.
“We responded very well from start to finish. We competed and won a lot of individual battles. The most pleasing thing is they [his players] went to the end.
“They kept going and going – instead of lumping it they passed it constantly in tight areas. It’s what we work on in training every day. They were all outstanding.
“As a striker you’re judged on scoring goals and assists. That’s exactly what he [Grant] is doing. Lyle got into good areas.
“How many last ditch tackles and blocks did they [Plymouth] make? I can’t understand how Plymouth are down there. They are a good side.
“Our fans were outstanding from start to end. We keep going and going and that is credit to them.”
