Charlton Athletic defender set for scan – with boss admitting it doesn’t look good

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Jason Pearce is set for a scan on his knee this week – with Charlton manager Lee Bowyer admitting it “does not look good”.

The Addicks captain missed Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw at Birmingham along with striker Chuks Aneke.

“Pearcey hurt his knee on Friday,” Bowyer told the South London Press. “So that’s why he wasn’t involved in the game.

“He is going to have a scan. It doesn’t look good.

“Chuks didn’t travel with us. He twisted his ankle the day before we left but he shouldn’t be long. While we were away he was outside running, so he won’t be far away.”

Charlton’s lack of options in a depleted squad meant that Jay Mingi played in the centre of the backline against the Blues.

They also have no recognised senior right-back.
