Charlton Athletic defender suffers training ground mishap – but expected to be fit for Dons derby

Lee Bowyer is confident Akin Famewo will be fit for Charlton’s derby against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday – despite suffering a fall in training earlier this week.

The on-loan Norwich City centre-back has only just returned from a hamstring injury that saw him sit out four League One matches.

But Famewo came on as a second-half sub in last week’s 1-0 loss to Milton Keynes and then started on Saturday at Shrewsbury Town.

The 22-year-old has played nine games for the Addicks since signing from the Canaries in late September.

“Akin just fell funny on his ankle on Tuesday,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “He made a clearance and fell backwards.

“I think he’ll be fine.”
