Charlton Athletic did make approach for Exeter City striker Sam Nombe
Charlton Athletic have shown interest in Sam Nombe but rumours that a deal is imminent are wide of the mark.
The South London Press understands that the Addicks made an approach earlier in the transfer window indicating they were prepared to pay around £500,000 for the 24-year-old striker, who has less than 12 months to run on his contract.
But Exeter are believed to be holding out for a fee in excess of £1million for the former Milton Keynes youngster.
Nombe scored 17 goals and collected nine assists for the Grecians last season.
Exeter are under no financial pressure to sell as they are set to receive a seven-figure sum as part of Ethan Ampadu’s transfer from Chelsea to Leeds United. And they also sold Archie Collins to Peterborough in June.
Charlton are in the market for another frontman despite signing Alfie May from Cheltenham Town in a deal worth up to £250,000.
