Charlton Athletic look to nail down loan deal for Preston striker Jayden Stockley
Charlton Athletic are working on a deal to sign Preston North End striker Jayden Stockley on loan.
The Addicks were keen to add the 27-year-old to their ranks in time to play – and start – at Peterborough in midweek.
Charlton manager Lee Bowyer had aired his frustration at not being able to get a player over the line for the League One clash, and it was Stockley that he wanted to bring in.
Bristol Rovers and Sunderland have also been linked with the centre-forward, who has made 16 Championship appearances this season.
Stockley netted 49 times in 98 matches for Exeter City.
He has also had spells with AFC Bournemouth, Aberdeen, Luton Town and Portsmouth.
Stockley’s loan deal needs to be agreed by midday today for him to be eligible to feature in tomorrow’s match against Swindon Town at The Valley.
