Charlton Athletic midfielder makes Mansfield loan switch

Charlton Athletic midfielder George Lapslie has joined Mansfield Town on loan.

The 23-year-old has made six appearances in all competitions for the Addicks this season.

But Lapslie is facing a battle to get regular action following a signing spree by the South London club.

“George needs to go and play for a team,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “He needs to make an impact on his own career now.

“He needs to step up and spread his wings. He’s been great for us but this is the right thing for him and his career – to go and challenge himself.”

Lapslie, who has come through the club’s academy, has made 54 appearances for Charlton.
