Lyle Taylor has been offered a new contract by Charlton – with Anfernee Dijksteel also set to get terms put in front of him this week. Both players are inside the final year of their deals.
Taylor scored 25 goals for the Addicks last season and won the club’s Player of the Year award.
Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has warned that he will not allow right-back Dijksteel to run his deal down – vowing there will be no repeat of Joe Aribo leaving for minimal compensation this summer to Rangers.
“We’ve definitely made an offer for Lyle,” said Bowyer. “And with Anfernee we are seeing his agent this week. We saw him at the back end of last week as well, but we’ll be going to them with an offer as well. Hopefully those two will sort themselves out sooner rather than later.”
Club captain Jason Pearce recently signed an extension until 2021. Bowyer said: “There was talk of him going but he didn’t want to leave. He knows what we’re trying to do here. He is a good man to have in the building.”
