Charlton Athletic striker suffers hamstring injury – but three players could be back for Southend United clash

Leon Best suffered a hamstring injury in Charlton’s 1-1 draw against Blackpool – but there could be some injury relief around the corner for the South London club.

Addicks manager Karl Robinson revealed post-match that three of his squad who have been sidelined may be available for the Boxing Day fixture at Southend United.

The Liverpudlian declined to reveal the identity of any of the trio.

But Jason Pearce (knee) and Chris Solly (calf) are expected to be missing for the next three weeks.

“Only Jay Dasilva and Ben Amos from the starting 11 on the opening day of the season took to the pitch today – that is remarkable,” said Robinson. “We have got some quality to come back fit. When it does we are going to be a very good team.

“I’ve never known something like this. We have looked at everything internally – our training regime. Nothing has changed. Most have happened in games, which is out of your control.”
