Charlton boss Lee Bowyer praises Igor Vetokele after tireless display against Luton
Charlton boss Lee Bowyer praised Igor Vetokele as the striker bagged a vital goal in the win over Luton Town.
The Angolan edged the Addicks ahead with twenty minutes to go before they went on to run-out 3-1 winners over the league leaders.
Bowyer also provided an injury update after both Vetokele and midfielder Krystian Bielik were withdrawn before the end of the game that saw Luton’s 28-game unbeaten run come to an end.
“He’s got fitter and sharper each game,” said Bowyer of Vetokele.
“This has been his first Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, I think all season. He’s done very well. He caused them problems all day. I’m so happy for him to get his goal because he deserves it with the work he’s put in this week.
“[Bielik has] cramp. That’s what happens when you work hard. He was very good second half. But it’s just a bit of cramp. Igor, the same. His hamstrings were getting tight. So, we’ll have to look after them as we’ve got to go again soon.”
