Charlton boss Lee Bowyer takes fresh swipe at Championship fixture scheduling
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Lee Bowyer reckons Charlton Athletic have had it rough with midweek fixture scheduling – with Saturday’s important fixture at Huddersfield Town another prime example.
The Addicks were in action on Wednesday night at Sheffield Wednesday, losing to a late Steven Fletcher goal.
Huddersfield defeated Bristol City 2-1 the evening before.
Charlton manager Bowyer said: “Huddersfield played Tuesday – they have got an extra 24 hours – but how many times has that happened to us this season? Fulham, Nottingham Forest [are other examples].
“It’s happened three or four times already, it’s never been that the team play on the same day as us.
“They said it would even itself out, but I don’t think it is possible it can now. This is already our third Wednesday and there ain’t enough midweek games left for that to even itself out.
“But it is what it is, we just have to get on with it.”
