Croydon author is back with her third instalment of The Cats Eye View series
Octavia Lonergan is back with a third instalment of The Cats Eye View series with The Cats Eye View of Being Green.
Readers, big and small, can once again join the furry felines Ozzy, Tibby, Leo, and Mimi as they have a chat, and this time the discussion is about what everyone can do to be more green.
Ms Lonergan, said: “The idea of using the perspective of cats appealed to me because of their independent and sometimes unpredictable personalities.
“I chose sustainability for the theme of this third book, The Cats Eye View of Being Green, as it felt like a natural progression from my second, Cats’ Eye View of Litter, and answered questions children may have about sustainability and related topics.
“Sustainability is a subject that will become more important as children grow up, so introducing the concept in a light-hearted and fun way is sure to help form well-rounded, thoughtful individuals.”
The Cats Eye View of Being Green explores sustainability topics including recycling, energy conservation, and upcycling.
Thought-provoking and conversation-starting questions are included throughout the rhyming story, which enables the adult or child reading the book to pause and discuss or ask their own questions about the sustainability topics in the book.
She put her graphic design background to good use and illustrated The Cats Eye View of Being Green.
Eye-catching illustrations of the cats are combined with real-life photography to keep the readers interested and engaged in the story.
The Cats Eye View of Being Green is aimed at children five to eight years old.
Ms Lonergan said: “I’ve written poetry from a young age, and always wanted to write and publish a children’s book. Having my twins further inspired me in this respect, and it only took a global pandemic to give me the final push!”
Octavia was born and raised in Croydon and now lives in Coulsdon, Croydon, with her husband and three-year-old twin daughters.
The Cats Eye View of Being Green is available for pre-order at amzn.to/3JVUoRh
The book is available as a Kindle edition or paperback and has an official release date of Tuesday, May 17.
