Croydon’s tallest building welcomes new residents after standing empty for nearly eight months

After standing empty for nearly eight months, Croydon’s tallest building is now ready to welcome new residents.

Renters have been waiting months to move into the new Ten Degrees development at 101 George Street – the world’s tallest modular building.

The two 44 and 38 storey towers were built by Tide Construction for developer Greystar and it offers 546 flats.

One bedroom flats are on offer from £1,450 a month with the option of coming furnished.

It was originally expected that it would be ready in summer 2020 but this was pushed back, first due to the pandemic and then with delays in getting building regulations signed off.

One renter who  originally expected to move in on September 1, spent many months sleeping on a friend’s floor .

And we have been contacted by other renters who felt they were left in the dark about when they would be able to move in.

Now Ten Degrees says residents will not have to pay for their first month of rent.

The towers shot up in just 35 weeks last year as they were built off side and transported to Croydon.

The development includes a roof-top gym, co-working space, cinema room and pet spa.
