Crystal Palace wait to discover full extent of Dean Henderson’s thigh injury
Crystal Palace face an anxious wait to find out the extent of the thigh injury Dean Henderson suffered in Tuesday night’s 3-0 EFL Cup third-round defeat at Manchester United.
The 26-year-old, left, was forced off 19 minutes into his Eagles debut when he went down after kicking the ball down the Old Trafford pitch.
Henderson had been waiting for his chance to make an impact for the South Londoners after joining from the Red Devils in the summer window for a fee that could rise to £20million.
Sam Johnstone, who has been Roy Hodgson’s first choice throughout the start of the season, replaced Henderson as Palace crashed out of the EFL Cup.
England stopper Henderson suffered a thigh injury, which required surgery, that ruled him out for the second half of the season during his loan stint at Nottingham
Forest in the last campaign.
Henderson is set to join Matheus Franca, Michael Olise, Jefferson Lerma, Naouirou Ahamada and Odsonne Edouard on the treatment table in SE25.
