Cyclist dies after collision with car in Peckham
A cyclist has died after a collision with a car in Southwark this morning.
Police were called by paramedics shortly before 6.30am to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist in Kelly Avenue at the junction with Peckham Road, Peckham.
A male cyclist had been in collision with a VW Golf. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.55am.
Enquiries are under way to notify next of kin.
Police arrested one man at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing a roadside drug test. He was taken to a South London police station where he remains at this time.
Road closures and cordons remain in place. Road users are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.
