Daniel Ballard taken to hospital with eye injury as Millwall injury crisis deepens

Daniel Ballard joined Millwall’s lengthening injury list tonight – heading to hospital after suffering a cut above his right eye.

And Lions boss Gary Rowett admitted after the 0-0 draw with Swansea City in South Wales that he had never experienced as testing selection headaches in his career before.

Millwall were also deprived of new Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo due to illness. Other players ruled out included Shaun Hutchinson, Danny McNamara, George Evans and Benik Afobe.

Asked about Ballard, Rowett said: “There’s a bad cut over his eye, his eye has swollen up. I don’t think he could see out of it. There’s no concussion or anything, it’s just a bad cut. He’s gone to hospital to get it looked at.
“I’ll be really honest, I’ve never know anything like it in all my time in football. I’ve never known so many injuries, I’ve never known so many illnesses.
“They seem to happen every time – someone comes back we lose two more. Every time another two come back we lose three more.
“It’s been hard work but no-one’s complained we’ve just tried to get on with it, we’ve tried to do the best we can and pick up points and results like we have done.”

  • Such a good move letting Mahlon Romeo go – NOT – The manager has not got a clue as to either man management – or squad management.

Harris was poor but far better than the current incumbent
