Dean Holden seeking talks with Thomas Sandgaard after Charlton takeover collapse

Dean Holden is hoping to speak with Thomas Sandgaard about his Charlton Athletic future after the takeover bid fronted by former Sunderland co-owner Charlie Methven collapsed yesterday.

COO Jim Rodwell, finance director Ed Warrick and technical director Andy Scott – who all joined the Addicks when Holden replaced Ben Garner – all left the club yesterday.

Holden’s current deal expires at the end of the season.

Speaking with BBC Radio London after the 2-1 defeat at home to Fleetwood, Holden said: “First I heard about it, with what happened yesterday, I got a phone call from Andy Scott following training – around 1pm.

“I was notified about what had happened and I had a very quick conversation with Thomas over the phone.

“But my focus has been purely on this game. I can’t take my focus [away from the game] and start asking questions.

“Clearly, now, there is going to be a bit of time over the weekend for me to sit with Thomas and find out exactly what’s going on in terms of moving forward as a club and what that looks like.

“I have absolutely loved my time at this football club, but we need to find out what it looks like moving forward and have some good honest conversations.

“It’s not about what I want it to look like. I’m manager of this football club currently until the end of the season on the contract that I have got.

“I just want clarity in terms of what it’s going to look like – it’s as simple as that.

“It was a surprise yesterday. We’re all big boys. We will sit down and have a chat.”
