Dean Holden set to sign contract extension at Charlton Athletic
Dean Holden is set to stay on as Charlton Athletic manager after agreeing a contract extension.
The 43-year-old replaced Ben Garner in December on a deal until this summer.
The South London Press understands Holden reached agreement over a long-term deal at the start of this week.
The next stage of the process is that it has to be rubber-stamped by the League Managers Association.
It seemed, at time of our paper going to press, that Holden’s new contract could be announced before Charlton’s home game against Accrington Stanley this weekend.
Holden met with chief executive Peter Storrie last week to begin putting down plans for next season, including their pre-season programme.
Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard is in takeover talks with American Marc Spiegel after pulling the plug on a period of exclusivity with a group fronted by Charlie Methven.

I think Dean Holden will do a decent job at Charlton, as he has done, given the lack of any real quality in the squad. Clearly he will need funds to build a better, potentially, promotion challenging squad next season.
For this to happen, he will need financial backing from whoever the owner may be, in the close season. What Charlton do not need is a squad of free transfers and loan players again. This is the only way that we will see what Dean Holden is capable of.
After years of discontent and more managers than possibly any other club, as a 60 year fan of our beloved club, the thought that Dean Holden has signed a long term contract has really brightened my day.
