Dillian Whyte adds respected trainer – who worked with ring legend Lennox Lewis – to his team

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Dillian Whyte has added respected trainer Harold Knight to his backroom team as he gears up for his rematch with Alexander Povetkin.

The Brixton heavyweight, pictured left, is looking to avenge his knockout loss when he squares off against the Russian again on March 6.

Knight was formerly co-trainer of ring great Lennox Lewis and worked with the legendary Emanuel Steward.

He has flown out to Whyte’s training base in Portugal to assist Xavier Miller, who was in charge of the South Londoner’s corner when he suffered a second career loss last time out.

Knight said: “I couldn’t be happier to be involved and we’re here to get Dillian back to that number one position. It’s going to be tough, believe it when I tell you. Povetkin is a very tough, smart fighter and he wants to stay there.

“This is where it comes from how bad you want it, and the team members around you, to see how good we are to put those ingredients into Dillian to get him back to that number one ranking.”

The WBC interim world title and also that governing body’s Diamond belt will be on the line.

Whyte said: “Harold is a very important piece of the puzzle, from a technical point of view, and from an experience point of view.

“He’s someone that had been studying me and liked my style.

“He was happy to join the camp and has fitted straight in.”
