Donald Trump and Melania arrival for meeting with NATO leaders in Watford

The arrival in central London of Donald Trump on Tuesday had Met and security forces on high alert – with road closures and helicopter surveillance to ensure a smooth visit.

The US President, accompanied by wife Melania, attended a reception at Buckingham Palace, along with NATO leaders who are in the UK for a summit in Watford to mark the organisation’s 70th anniversary.

Among those HM the Queen greeted were Canadian President Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron.

President Trump also paid a visit to Downing Street for talks with PM Boris Johnson, where he denied claims he was looking at buying up parts of the NHS.

Road closures were put in place in Constitution Hill, The Mall, Horse Guards’ Road and Birdcage Walk.

There was also a partial closure of Whitehall and Parliament Square.
