Dons defender Charles agrees deal to join Wycombe Wanderers

AFC Wimbledon defender Darius Charles has turned down the chance to stay with the club – and has signed a one-year deal with Wycombe Wanderers.

The Chairboys won automatic promotion to League One last season.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “Darius is a player I’ve admired for a number of years so I’m delighted to bring him here. He’s a strong, powerful centre-half who also provides cover at left-back and he can also play up front which could be a useful weapon to have.

“He knows a few of the lads already and he’s got a great character which will enable him to settle in quickly and adapt to the way we do things.”

Charles’ contract with Wycombe will start on July 1.
