Driver died after hitting tree in Morden in early hours of Tuesday

Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Morden are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police were called at 2.12am on Tuesday, 25 September, to a car in collision with a tree in Bishopsford Road, Morden, near Tooting & Mitcham Football Club’s Imperial Fields ground.

Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

Enquiries into the circumstances continue however at this early stage, it is not believed anyone else was in the car or any other vehicles were involved.

No arrests have been made.
