Ex-Charlton attacker Lookman lighting up Serie A

Wandsworth-born Ademola Lookman bagged a brace in Atalanta’s 3-3 draw with Juventus on Sunday night.

The ex-Everton, Leicester and Fulham forward has now scored as many goals in Serie A – 11 – as he did in his 96 Premier League appearances.

Lookman, 25, is the second top goalscorer in the Italian top division, with Napoli forward Victor Osimhen currently ahead with 13.

Lookman progressed through Charlton’s academy in 2015 and made 49 appearances for the first team – scoring 12 goals and picking up three assists – before signing for Everton in 2017.

Lookman completed a €15million switch to Italy in the summer, signing a four-year deal at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

The former RB Leipzig winger has also only made 18 appearances in the Italian league.

Atalanta are fifth in the table, just two points off the Champions League spots.

Speaking about Lookman in October, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini said: “He always knows what to do,”

“He moves well. He’s fast – he has good technique.

“Aside from the goals, what’s important is the contribution he consistently makes.

“He’s a kid that has already understood many things, how to move, how to play, how to train.

“He spent time developing in Leipzig and that’s a great school. For us, he’s truly a great signing.”
