Exclusive: Charlton Athletic midfielder has February transfer plans

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Joe Ledley is not set to land an extended deal from Charlton Athletic – with the former Crystal Palace midfielder already having a move lined up in early 2020.

The 32-year-old signed for the Addicks on December 6 on a month-long contract. He was a free agent after leaving Derby County last January.

Charlton signed Ledley as cover in the middle of the park with Josh Cullen ruled out due to ankle ligament damage with Sam Field – another loanee – missing due to a knee problem.

“From what I understand he [Ledley] has got something lined up for February,” said Addicks manager Lee Bowyer. “This was always going to be a short-term one. But he’s doing well, he’s getting fitter.

“It is obviously good to have his experience around the place as well for the young lads, we’ve got a lot of them around the place at the moment.”
