Exclusive: Charlton boss provides update on loan move for Crystal Palace winger

Charlton manager Karl Robinson is still working on a deal for Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai – but is offering no guarantees the loan move will get over the line.

The young winger had looked set to wrap up a switch to the Addicks last Friday and was as at their Sparrows Lane training ground to finalise things.

But suddenly the temporary transfer was put on ice, with Kaikai missing the noon deadline to be eligible for Saturday’s 3-1 win over Walsall.

Barnsley and Brentford are also believed to be interested in Kaikai, who had a loan spell at the latter last season.

“We’re still working on it,” Robinson told the South London Press. “We know Crystal Palace are waiting to bring in players and we know the player wants to come. It’s just waiting for an answer off Crystal Palace.”

Asked about the likelihood of a deal happening before the transfer deadline next week, Robinson replied: “You’re better phoning up Crystal Palace and asking them the likelihood.”
